MID CITY MERCHANTS | Ways to Serve
- Events Committee: The Events Committee will formulate strategies for the promotion of the Mid City Cultural District, look for new ways to promote and expand the scope of the bi-annual art hops, and find new ways to increase donations for public art in Mid City. This Committee is responsible for the production of the bi-annual art hops, Hot Art, Cool Night in the spring and White Light Night in the fall. The committee will identify potential sponsors, suggest strategies for securing public support and formulate a fundraising strategy to generate money for bigger and better art hops and public art in Mid City. All fundraising activities regarding the art hops will be generated and managed by this committee.
- Beautification: The Beautification Committee will work to improve the look of Mid City. This committee will research and make suggestions to the board to increase awareness of the revitalization and beautification efforts occurring in Mid City. The Beautification Committee is responsible for Mid City in Bloom in conjunction with the Keep America Beautiful event, the Great American Cleanup, in the spring and other cleanup projects throughout the year. The committee will identify potential sponsors, suggest strategies for securing public support and formulate a fundraising strategy to generate money for beautification projects that impact the entire Mid City region. All fundraising activities regarding beautification, landscaping, and planting will be generated and managed by this committee.
- Community Affairs: The Community Affairs Committee will assess existing and potential areas for continued economic growth in the Mid City region. This committee will keep current on all issues that affect the members of the area and inform the board and/or membership as needed. The Community Affairs Committee will develop strategies that improve our image, suggest additional programs to the membership, and retain existing community support for MCM’s work while developing new partnerships to further the work of the organization. The committee will assess all programs and projects which impact the businesses and neighborhoods in Mid City. This committee will assist in monitoring progress of the Government Street Master Action Plan and all governmental relations activity. It is the responsibility of this committee to suggest forums for the membership to discuss or address transportation, safety, drainage, code enforcement and other issues that plague Mid City. This committee will assist the MCM board in connecting with the membership and residents in the Mid City community.
- Membership: The Membership Committee will work on a regular basis recruiting, visiting and encouraging businesses in Mid City to join the MCM. The committee will create strategies to increase membership and get members involved in the activities of the MCM by promoting membership, quarterly socials, public meeting attendance and other activities that encourage businesses in the area to become more active and civically engaged. The committee is responsible for coordinating the quarterly socials and annual meeting. Members of this committee will create and mail/email invitations, save the date reminders, and other pertinent information to the businesses in Mid City. The Membership Committee is also responsible for dividing the membership into groups and assigning each board member as a liaison to a group of member businesses.
- Publicity/Advertising: The Publicity/Advertising Committee is responsible for reviewing and selecting joint advertising and promotional opportunities for the MCM and the members. All advertising opportunities presented to the board will be directed to the committee for review and then recommended to the full board at their discretion.
All external communication and materials will be created and maintained by this committee: MCM website, Facebook, Instagram, and annual membership brochure.
